"This elegant condominium project in Washington, DC was the unanimous first choice of the jury. The cantilevered and curved facade elements add a great deal of vitality to this urban building. They break up what could have been a monolithic image of the building from the street, and allow the building to be both respectful of the nature of the street corridor while enlivening it at the same time. Fabricated from over 5000 pieces of precast concrete, the building draws on the best traditions of urban American architecture. It clearly addresses the street, keeps one's interest through the apartment floors, and culminates with expressive details at the top. It is a project that utilizes the precast technology extremely well in creating a worthy urban building. "
