Precast stone was second nature to Mark Arban. His father, grandfather and great grandfather had a long history of manufacturing stone in Italy and Germany. He had also grown up working for his father's precast stone business in Alexandria, VA., since his boyhood in the 40's.
In 1963, Mark Arban began his own precast stone business in a one car garage in Alexandria Va. Business thrived over the years. In 1976, the company expanded and built a new plant in Dumfries, VA. It became one of the most prominent precast stone companies in the Washington, DC area.
Mark Arban now feels very fortunate to be turning the management and ownership of the business over to the next generation. Allen Macey, his son-in-law, is now the president of the company. Allen was previously a successful manager with Quality Building Products Inc. of Maryland. It was a tough decision for Allen in 2001, to give up the successful position he had attained there and join the family business. The business has prospered since he has arrived, despite keen competition with out of state competitors.
Arban Precast Stone, LTD. is recognized as one of the most artistic of architectural precast stone manufacturers. A long list of well known jobs can be viewed to the company's credit. The award winning "Massachusetts Avenue" building is one of its more notable projects.
Arban Precast Stone is known for custom work on spandrels, panels, columns, copings, window sills, lintels, arches, signs, pier caps and stairs. The work covers a wide range of architectural manufacturing from small ornate cast stone jobs to large cast stone building projects.
Arban Precast Stone also specializes in ornate sculptural reproductions and restorations of buildings such as universities, hotels and monuments. The company has worked on such prominent landmarks as the White House and Pentagon.
Arban Precast Stone, LTD. has the unique advantage of being a member of both the Architectural Precast Association, or APA, and the Cast Stone Institute, or CSI.
